Are you visiting San Fran or you are local just wanting to spend time in the city - Biking in the city and over the Golden Gate bridge is a great way to spend time!

We rented our bikes from a place called "Basically Free Bike rentals" which is part of Sports basement.

Start : We rented it from "Basically Free Bike rentals" at 2568 Jones Street. But they have a Sports Basement after Crissy field where you can also rent the bikes.

Advantage of renting the bike after crissy field is "

- You skip some hard to bike slopes on the way. Also some areas in between are "walk your bike".

- Your biking distance is also not 4.1 miles which gives you more time and energy once you are on the bridge.

- They have a parking lot which is much easier to park than finding parking in the city.

Returning : You can return your bikes either at the Sports basement after Crissy field or 2568 Jones street on your way back. If you did park your car here, returning here would be perfect.

BEST part of renting bikes from Basically free bike rentals:

1. BEST - You get a coupon to spend as much as you spend on renting the bikes at Sports basement. We got tandem bikes for 3 hours !

2. They have kids bike trailers that you can rent

3. You can bring your own carrier and they help you fit

4. They have varieties of bikes - Single, tandem, 4 seater :)

5. They also give you a helmet

Things to remember :

- Biking track has some elevated slopes and sometimes feels hard

- Keep a jacket with you, SF can be windy especially on the bridge

- There are a lot of viewing spots, take lots of pictures

- Bring a picnic lunch, snacks and water to keep with you on the ride

Route options :

Option 1 :

Start - Jones street -> Bike to Crissy field -> Take a quick break -> Bike to Golden Gate bridge -> Break at the vista point - > Bike the bridge -> Return -> Break at Ghirardelli square and treat yourself with some ice cream -> Return the bikes

Option 2 :

Start at sports basement at Crissy field -> Bike to Golden Gate bridge -> Break at the vista point - > Bike the bridge -> Return -> Return the bikes -> Picnic snack/lunch at Crissy field park
